Algeria Reaffirms Security Priorities Amid Mali Crisis
Washington, November 19, 2025 - The Algerian Ambassador to the United States issued a strong statement on November 19, underlining Algeria’s perspective on the escalating crisis in northern Mali. He described the region as a “natural extension of Algeria,” highlighting the shared ethnic groups, communities, and historical ties that link the two countries.
The ambassador emphasized that Algeria’s security remains a top priority and firmly rejected any form of foreign interference along its borders, signaling the country’s intent to closely monitor and manage developments in neighboring Mali.
This statement follows recent warnings by Algerian authorities regarding the resurgence of terrorism in Mali and reflects Algeria’s ongoing commitment to the stability and territorial integrity of the Sahel-Saharan region.
