Upper Niger Valley Office Opens 34th Session, Highlights Agricultural Gains

Ségou, February 12, 2026 - Daniel Siméon Kelema, Minister of Agriculture, presided over the opening of the 34th ordinary session of the Upper Niger Valley Office (OHVN) for the 2025 agricultural campaign on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Ségou. The campaign has shown promising results, with production targets largely met: Cereals: 347,964 tons (82% of target) Seed cotton: 19,200 tons (70%) Pulses: 54,351 tons (79%) Sesame: 4,859 tons (72%) Vegetables: 134,035 tons (91%) The campaign has resulted in a cereal surplus of approximately 7,388 tons. As part of agricultural modernization efforts, equipment was provided to 25 family farms, three input storage warehouses were renovated, and two organic sesame storage warehouses were constructed. Additionally, 6,025 tons of mineral fertilizers were made available to farmers in the OHVN zone to support continued growth.
