Timbuktu 2025 Arts and Culture Biennale Closes After Ten Days of Competition
Timbuktu, December 28, 2025 The Timbuktu 2025 Biennale of Arts and Culture, held under the theme “Culture, a Pillar of Building the New Mali,” officially came to an end on December 28, 2025, following ten days of artistic and cultural competitions. The closing ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, representing His Excellency General Assimi Goïta, President of the Transition and Head of State. The event brought together senior government officials, including the Minister of Crafts, Culture, Hospitality and Tourism, Mamou Daffé, as well as regional governors and numerous national authorities. The biennale served as a platform to showcase Mali’s rich cultural diversity, traditional arts, music, dance, crafts, and creative expression, while reaffirming the central role of culture in national reconstruction, unity, and identity. Throughout the ten-day event, delegations from across the country competed in various disciplines, highlighting cultural heritage as a unifying force and a strategic pillar in the vision of a renewed Mali. The conclusion of the Timbuktu 2025 Biennale marked a significant moment in Mali’s cultural calendar, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting arts and culture as drivers of cohesion, resilience, and sustainable development.
