SOFEPADI Alerts on 150 Mbuti Families Still Shelterless After Ngadi ADF Attack
Beni, North Kivu, August 7, 2026 - The humanitarian organization SOFEPADI has reported that over 150 Mbuti families in the Beni region remain without adequate shelter following the devastating attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in May. The assault not only destroyed homes but also claimed the lives of several individuals, including six members of the Mbuti community and the well-known local comedian Nzanzu Mangese. The ongoing displacement has left these families struggling to survive, with many having lost their livelihoods and loved ones.
In response to the urgent needs, SOFEPADI has distributed food, clothing, and tarps to the affected families; however, the organization has emphasized that the assistance provided is insufficient. There remains a critical shortage of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities, as well as non-food items (NFIs) necessary for the families to rebuild their lives. SOFEPADI is calling for increased humanitarian aid to address these pressing needs and to support the Mbuti community in their recovery efforts.
