Peaceful March in Sake Demonstrates Solidarity with Uvira
Sake, Masisi Territory, DRC - December 23, 2025 - Hundreds of residents in Sake took to the streets Tuesday morning in a peaceful demonstration, calling for peace and expressing solidarity with the city of Uvira amid ongoing regional tensions.
Protesters carried placards reading “Amani kwetu” (“Peace at home”), urging unity and an end to violence in the eastern DRC.
Local authorities reported no incidents, and an official response from the administration has not yet been issued.
The march reflects growing civic engagement in eastern DRC, where communities continue to respond to insecurity through public demonstrations.
