Operation “Sunkalo Solidarity 2026” Launched

Bamako, February 20, 2026 - Prime Minister Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, on behalf of Transitional President General Assimi Goïta, launched Operation “Sunkalo Solidarity 2026” Friday, delivering 600 tons of rice to vulnerable populations across Bamako and the regions. The launch took place at the ASKO football field in Korofina, Commune I of Bamako District, marking the start of a nationwide social assistance campaign coordinated by the government. Distribution Across the Country The initiative is set to operate at multiple locations: 19 sites in Bamako 4 sites in Kati 3 sites per region in other areas of the country Of the total 600 tons of rice, 400 tons are allocated to the regions, while 200 tons will support three key ministerial departments, ensuring assistance reaches those most in need. A Commitment to Solidarity Government officials described the operation as a demonstration of national solidarity, aiming to support vulnerable populations, strengthen social cohesion, and promote a spirit of communal assistance during challenging times.
