Mali’s Ministry of Agriculture and HELVETAS Sign Project to Prevent Climate-Related
Bamako, January 30, 2026 - The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Daniel Siméon Kelema, received representatives from HELVETAS Mali to discuss the implementation of a project aimed at preventing violence linked to land conflicts and climate change in the San and Koutiala regions. The project agreement was formally signed during the meeting. Funded by UNOPS, HELVETAS, and Search, the initiative will span two and a half years (30 months) and be implemented in 10 communes, five in San and five in Koutiala. The project aims to prevent emerging conflicts over the access, use, and governance of natural resources and is expected to benefit 18,000 people, including 42% women and 58% men.
