Mali | Minister of Religious Affairs Meets New Board of Quran Memorization Union
Bamako, January 15, 2026 - As part of his oversight of religious education, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Worship, and Customs, Dr. Mahamadou Koné, received the new board of directors of the Union of Schools and Centers for Memorizing the Holy Quran in an audience on Thursday, January 15, 2026. During the meeting, the re-elected president, Dr. Ousmane Solih Traoré, officially presented the Minister with the congress documents, including the resolutions, the list of new board members, and the Union’s action plan. According to Dr. Traoré, Mali now has more than 40,000 students enrolled in approximately 1,000 centers for memorizing the Holy Quran, highlighting the importance and dynamism of this religious teaching in the country.
