Launch of the Faireniger Collective Brand: A New Asset for Promoting Local Milk
Niamey, December 6, 2025 - Niger’s dairy sector is taking a decisive step forward with the official launch of the Faireniger collective brand, an initiative led by the National Federation of Interprofessional Organizations in the Dairy Sector (FENIPROLAIT), with support from ENABEL through the REEL MAHITA project and GIZ through the PROLAVI project. This brand aims to promote local milk, encourage the consumption of Nigerien products, and sustainably structure the entire sector.
The launch will begin on December 9, 2025, with a consultation workshop bringing together key stakeholders in the sector, including producers, collectors, and processors. Scheduled to take place at the headquarters of the NGO Karkara in Niamey, this workshop will help harmonize expectations, reiterate the criteria for using the collective brand, and foster greater ownership of the initiative among industry professionals.
The official launch ceremony for the Faireniger brand will be held on December 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Noom Hotel in Niamey, under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Colonel Mahaman Elhadj Ousmane. This event will bring together professional organizations, government representatives, technical and financial partners, private sector stakeholders, and guests from the regional fair trade milk network. Stands will showcase the diversity and quality of local dairy products.
Following the ceremony, a high-level roundtable discussion will be held on the theme: "The Faireniger brand: a major step for the 'My milk is local' initiative", with the slogan "Buy Nigerien." Discussions will focus on the competitiveness of local milk, standardization, traceability, intellectual property protection, and opportunities for young people, confirming that dairy production is a strategic lever for Niger's economic and agricultural development.
