Bamako, February 24, 2026 - As part of Operation “Sunkalo Solidarity 2026”, initiated by President of the Transition General Assimi Goïta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulaye Diop participated in a collective iftar held at the ASKO grounds in Korofina on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The event was attended by administrative, municipal, and religious authorities.

A Symbolic Gathering

The gathering, imbued with spiritual, social, and symbolic significance, fostered reflection, fraternity, and communal solidarity, bringing together diverse segments of Malian society around values of sharing, divine invocation, and civic unity.

Minister Diop emphasized that the month of Ramadan, coinciding this year with Christian Lent, provides Malians a chance to draw closer to God and strengthen bonds of fraternity, tolerance, and mutual respect among citizens.

Commitment to National Unity

The minister highlighted the commitment of Mali’s highest authorities to:

Strengthen social and religious values of solidarity

Promote civic engagement

Consolidate national unity in the face of challenges

He concluded by calling on all Malians to join hands in renewed solidarity, brotherly love, fervent prayer, and patriotic action, to build a united, strong, and cohesive Mali, embracing all citizens regardless of religion, ethnicity, or social background.
