Beni, North Kivu - December 15, 2025 - Over 2,000 Congolese passports arrived in Beni, the provisional capital of North Kivu, bringing relief to residents who had been waiting for months.

This shipment is the fourth batch distributed to applicants since December 16, while photo registration continues in Butembo for more than 3,000 people. Residents welcomed the arrivals but criticized the slow pace of the issuance process.

To improve accessibility, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a photo-taking center in Beni, allowing residents from Beni, Butembo, and surrounding areas to obtain biometric passports without traveling to Kinshasa or Bunia.
